The Office of English Language Programs provides programs for English language teachers and learners. All programs are implemented by Regional English Language Officers (RELOs) at American Embassies or Consulates.

The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program
The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) program offers virtual learning opportunities to foreign English language educators, professionals and learners worldwide. OPEN promotes mutual exchange of culture and provides free access to teaching and learning materials which can be reused, adapted and shared with others. OPEN professional development opportunities are developed by U.S. academic institutions and experts in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). English Access Microscholarship Program
For non-U.S. students, the English Access Microscholarship Program teaches talented students, primarily between the ages of 13 to 20, English language skills through after-school classes and intensive sessions.
Programs for U.S. Educators
Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program places recent college graduates and early career professionals as English teaching assistants in primary and secondary schools or universities overseas - improving foreign students’ English language abilities and knowledge of the United States while increasing the U.S. student's own language skills and knowledge of the host country.
English Language Specialist Program
For U.S. experts in the field of Teaching English and Applied Linguistics, the English Language Specialists Program offers short-term assignments abroad.
Peace Corps Volunteer
Peace Corps Volunteers can be placed in English Education positions around the world. Volunteers in participating countries receive additional training during their service and receive a certificate upon successful completion. They may also apply to complete the TEFL Certificate.
English Language Fellow Program
For U.S. teachers, the English Language Fellow Program provides 10-month teaching fellowships to academics in the fields of Teaching English and Applied Linguistics.
